A highway accident led to a man being airlifted Friday from a grocery store parking lot.
It happened on Highway 55 near Bridgeton in Craven County.
Highway Patrol troopers said William Edison Boahn drove his scooter out of a Food Lion parking lot, when he was hit by a Dodge Caravan.
Bonnie Mason Reynolds, of Ernul was behind the wheel of the Dodge. Troopers on the scene said she was turning into the grocery store.
A medical helicopter landed in the Food Lion parking lot, and took Boahn to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Reynolds will be charged with unsafe movement. Boahn was seen moving his limbs before he was loaded onto the helicopter.
Neighbors said the intersection of Highway 55 and Galloway Road is a dangerous area, where airlifts have responded multiple times.
"This year, I've seen choppers land here three times," Bridgeton resident Andrew Knight said. "The intersection needs a traffic light because it's simply too busy."
Memorial Day weekend, 70-year-old Robert Venneri was fatally injured feet from Friday's accident. While Venneri was traveling on Highway 55, a car turned onto the roadway in front of him, causing him to lose control of his Harley Davidson.
An East Care chopper was also called to the Memorial Day accident.
