An Ohio mother who was found dead in the Outer Banks was stabbed and strangled to death, the Dare County Sheriff's Department announced.

A construction worker discovered the body of Lynn Jackenheimer in Frisco on Saturday, deputies said. The 33-year-old Ashland, Ohio native was last seen on July 4th in the Salvo area, where she was vacationing with her two children and her ex-boyfriend, Nathan Summerfield.

Summerfield returned to Ohio with Jackenheimer's two kids, but their mother was not with them, investigators said. Summerfield allegedly confessed to his brother that he killed Jackenheimer.

Dare County deputies issued an arrest warrant for Summerfield Monday night. Media in Ohio were reporting that Summerfield was recently seen at a Columbus apartment complex.
