Camp Lejeune Marine Killed

The Department of Defense announced Monday that a Camp Lejeune Marine was killed while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan W. Gifford, 34, of Palm Bay, Florida, was killed on July 29.  He was conducting combat operations in Badghis province, Afghanistan, at the time.

Gifford was assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
