Body of Appalachian State student found in creek

BOONE, N.C. -

Police say the body of an Appalachian State University student has been found in a creek that runs through a Boone park.

Authorities say the body of 19-year-old Tyler Blalock was found at around 8 a.m. Saturday in a creek in Durham Park.

University medics responded after a passer-by reported seeing a body floating in the water.

Blalock was from Charlotte. The school says he was a sophomore studying sustainable development. Police are still investigating.
