Bad wreck in Carteret County leaves four with injuries
The Highway Patrol told NewsChannel 12 that four people sustained injuries following a bad wreck in Carteret County.
Trooper Jeff Howell said the 911 call came in at about 3:30 p.m. Friday. The wreck happened along Crow Hill Road. Howell said three 17-year-old girls were traveling in a silver Honda Civic and claimed they were being chased by a green vehicle. Howell said they crossed the center line and hit a white van.
Howell said the backseat passenger sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Howell said the front-seat passenger of the Civic, who was not wearing her seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Civic was wearing her seat belt, and also sustained non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to Carteret Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the white van was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries, but was released.
The driver of the Civic was charged with careless and wreckless driving. Troopers said they were looking for the green vehicle that was allegedly chasing the teens.
