A Farmville man is in jail for allegedly causing a deadly wreck late Saturday night.
The suspect, Sidney Pasqual Barrett, was driving without a license and had been drinking, troopers said.
Barrett was driving southbound on Hwy. 121 about 11: 15 p.m. Saturday when he crossed the center line in his Ford SUV and collided head on with a Ford car, troopers said.
The driver of the other car, 57-year-old Phyllis Hardy of Greenville, died as a result of the crash.
The wreck happened approximately two miles north of Farmville, troopers said.
Troopers said Barrett had four passengers in his vehicle including: 22-year-old Michael Tyson from Farmville and 16-year-old Laquayvaious Tyson from Farmville. They were both taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with non-life threatening injuries. There's no word on whether they are still in the hospital at this time.
The other two passengers: 24-year-old Bryan Corbett and 18-year-old Devoshia Tyson, both from Farmville, were not injured in the crash.
Barrett was not injured in the wreck. Troopers said he blew a 0.19, more than twice the legal limit in North Carolina for alcohol consumption.
Barrett has two prior convictions for driving while license revoked, records show.
Barrett's new charges include felony death by vehicle, DWI, and driving while license revoked.
He is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $225,000 bond.
