MAYSVILLE, JONES COUNTY -

A man is offering a $5,000 reward for information in the death of a woman whose body was found two weeks after she was reported missing in Maysville.

Gregg Carpitano told NewsChannel 12 he was good friends with Elizabeth "Bethany" Rhoades and is offering the reward in hopes of finding those responsible for her death.

Carpitano said Rhoades, 48, had often helped him at his business, Gregg's Auto Salvage.

Two fishermen found Rhoades' body on Feb. 23 at an area near the White Oak River Campground, off Highway 17 near the Jones-Onslow County line, according to Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown.

Rhoades' death was ruled as "suspicious," said Jones County Sheriff Danny Heath.  Her exact cause of death has not been released.

Rhoades had been missing for two weeks before her body was found.
