Four people are sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a two car wreck on Old Tar Road.

The collision happened just before 10:30 a.m.  between the Winterville and Greenville city limit. Three people were sent to the hospital and one man was airlifted form the scene.

Winterville Police have identified the driver of the Dodge  as James Earl Petteway of Greenville and Christopher Ray Moore of Winterville who drove the GMC.

Officers said Petteway was traveling left of center on the roadway, hit the other car and flipped on its side, trapping all three occupants.

Petteway is charged with driving left of center.

Witnesses said they saw people pinned inside in the overturned SUV.

Local resident Danica Clarkson said she saw the driver pinned inside.

"I saw an arm underneath the SUV that had been trapped but it was moving so that person was alive.  The other person was trying to crawl out of the top of it, he was struggling," Clarkson said. " He was obviously very hurt. "

Vernon White Road to Evans Street was blocked off for about three hours.

Winterville Police are investigating the crash.
