PITT COUNTY - Deputies say they are looking for whoever shot two people at a party in Pitt County early Saturday morning.
According to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened at about 3:50 a.m. Saturday at 6127 Stantonsburg Rd. just east of Farmville.
Investigators said 23-year-old Travails Markeel McMillian and 32-year-old Chavier Jevon Harris were both shot during a "Labor Day party" in a building next door to the home.
McMillian was shot three times and Harris was shot once, said the Sheriff's Office.
Neighbors tell NewsChannel 12 there have been parties at the home before, but never anything that has gotten out of hand.
Neighbor Joe Ingle, who lives down the road, said the neighborhood is normally quiet.
"I'm a little shocked that we had that kind of violence in this area," Ingle said.
By the time deputies arrived at the scene, the two victims had already been taken to Vidant Medical Center. As of 9:40 a.m. Saturday, both McMillian and Harris were in surgery. Their conditions were not released.
According to the host of the party, 75 to 100 people were at the party when the shooting happened.
The Sheriff's Office said there is no word on who did the shooting, what type of gun was used, or what the motive was.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 252-758-7777 or the Pitt County Sheriff's Office at 252- 830-4141.
