EASTERN NC - Two men charged in the deaths of three people in Pitt County last month have now been charged with killing two people in Edgecombe County in March.
Twenty-nine-year-old Antwan Andre Anthony of Bethel and 23-year-old Willie Odell Whitehead Jr. of Pinetops have been charged with the deaths of two people in Princeville on March 18.
Jasmine Leticia Chesson, 33, and her boyfriend, 33-year-old Quantellis Tyvon Carr were shot in the head.
Ronnell Joyner, 20, and Ray Shasteem, 20, were also arrested in connection with the Princeville murder. Both men, of Farmville, are charged with assessory after the fact. Police said they helped the suspects dispose of or hide a handgun after the crime.
Princeville Police Chief Joey Petway said this was a diffcult case because of the heinous nature of the crime.
"In my experience as a Chief of Police and also as a police officer this is one of the most disturbing things I've seen in law enforcement," he said.
Anthony and Whitehead are being held in the Pitt County jail on three counts of murder and other charges in an April 1 shooting at a Farmville convenience store that killed three people.
Xavier Shamble, 19, of Farmville and a 14-year-old boy also are charged in those shooting deaths.
The employees were closing the store when they were killed.
Petway said it was through the horrific crime at the Hustle Mart that they were able to connect two of the suspects to the double murder in Princeville.
"We looked at similar circumstances that happened in what we saw and what was revealed so information came to us from anonymous sources," Petway said.
