A mother and her 3-year-old daughter were in a van when it collided with a tractor-trailer in Craven County Thursday morning.
The wreck happened at the 600 block of Highway 70, heading from James City to New Bern. According to the Highway Patrol, the 18-wheeler was making a right turn when it crashed with the van, causing it to overturn into a ditch.
The mom, Queshoanda, and her 3-year-old daughter got out of the van without injuries. She talked with NewsChannel 12 about what happened.
"I landed, I looked, I thought I was dead," Queshoanda said. "I had to take my seat belt off and looked back at my daughter and take her belt off. We climbed out the back door."
The driver of the tractor-trailer will likely be charged with a moving violation, the investigating trooper said. No alcohol was involved.
