GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY - A major wish is granted Tuesday afternoon in Pitt County, where a Greenville 11-year-old is headed to Disney World.
Dontayvion Armstrong will now walk the streets of what most kids his age dream of, due to the help of the "Make-A-Wish" Foundation, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and the Greenville Police Department. On Tuesday, Dontayvion met up with wish-grantors at Wendy's on East Arlington Boulevard in Greenville, where Greenville Fire and Rescue waited for him for a send off celebration.
Dontayvion, with his family met with Sheriff Neil Elks, Deputies, Police Officers as well as, Firefighters before he enjoyed a dinner courtesy of Wendy's. "We are honored to be asked to participate in the Wish-Granting celebration for Dontayvion," explained Sheriff Elks. He continued saying, "This family has to deal with the unthinkable - three very sick children, and it blesses us to help bring a little light into their life."
Dontayvion and his two brother's Bubba, and Trabian, Jr. all have unrelated life threatening illnesses. His brother Bubba, had his "wish" granted earlier this year. Bubba met up with NBA star Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers. Now that two brother's have had their "wish" granted, plans are underway to get Trabian, Jr.'s "wish" granted by early 2015.
"When they told me he was in remission, I felt a whole lot better. So he's healthy and he's here.", said Dontayvion's mother Canana Armstrong, who was on hand to see her son's beaming smile Tuesday.
Make-A-Wish's purpose is: "We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."
