Police have released the name of a man who was killed in a three-vehicle wreck in Jacksonville Tuesday.
According to the Jacksonville Police Department, 31-year-old Jeromy Michael Noce, of Doris Avenue in Jacksonville, was killed in the wreck. It happened at about 7:10 p.m. Tuesday on N.C. 24 in the area of Bell Fork Road and Ellis Boulevard.
Investigators said a Ford sedan was stopped at a traffic light on N.C. 24 at the intersection of Bell Fork Road. Meanwhile, a Chevy Silverado, was also slowing down for the red light.
During that time, Noce was driving on N.C. 24 toward Bell Fork Road, police said. But his Kia Sedona van drifted over into the left lane and did not slow down, hitting the rear of the Chevy truck, according to investigators.
The Chevy truck (pictured) then traveled about 120 feet before rolling over and hitting the Ford sedan stopped at the intersection, said police.
After crashing into the truck, Noce's van came to rest at the intersection, investigators said. Noce was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, police told NewsChannel 12.
According to his stepfather, Noce leaves behind his fiance and three young children.
Investigators said the driver of the Chevy pickup truck, 51-year-old Clyde Kent Long, of Jacksonville, was also airlifted to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford sedan was not hurt, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
