Matt Bylis joined the NewsChannel 12 team after graduating from the University of Maryland in May 2016. He earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the prestigious Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
In school, Matt gained valuable experience reporting for Capital News Service TV. He covered top stories from around the mid-Atlantic region, such as the aftermath of the Freddie Gray unrest in Baltimore, Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia, and even a presidential candidates forum in Washington, D.C.
His work placed him in the top 15 in the Hearst Journalism Awards' TV News category. He also reported the lead story and anchored the newscast that the Broadcast Education Association named best in the nation.
Matt's experience also includes internships at many top news outlets in the mid-Atlantic, such as FOX 5 DC, WBAL-TV, and The Baltimore Sun.
Matt grew up in suburban Baltimore, and is still an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, working out and exploring the great outdoors.
He would love to hear from you: to send him a story idea, or just to say hi, shoot him an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also connect with him on Facebook and Twitter.
