When asked in the third grade what she wanted to be when she grew up, Jasmine Spencer at first said a "Price is Right girl." After some re-thinking, a few days later she changed her career goal to someday become a news reporter.
That has stayed the same ever since, and is now a reality. This North Carolina native made her way east across the state; born in Asheville, raised in Kernersville and now excited to start her career in the city of Greenville.
This is Jasmine's first job as a reporter, but she started her experience in the student newsroom of Elon University. She graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism. She reported for four years for the student newscast Phoenix 14 News. Her fondest memory was in her senior year as co-anchor, flying to Los Angeles, Calif., with Phoenix 14 News' executive board where they accepted the 2011 Emmy award for "Best Newscast" by the College Television Awards.
Jasmine also interned in Winston-Salem at WXII News Channel 12.
Outside of news, Jasmine loves bargain shopping, traveling, spending time with friends and family and meeting new people. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. If you have a news tip for a story, feel free to shoot her an email! She'd love to hear from you.
