Parmalee drummer Scott Thomas was shot early Tuesday morning during an attempted robbery following the band's performance at a South Carolina nightclub.
Parmalee, a band based out of Greenville, N.C., had finished its set at The Money in downtown Rock Hill, S.C., when two local men tried to rob the band, according to Rock Hill Police Lt. Brad Redfearn.
Redfearn has confirmed that the robbery suspects that shot at members of the band are Demario Burris, 22, and Dytavis Hinton, 22.
Scott Thomas, 37, was shot and is listed in critical condition after being taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Matt Thomas, Scott's brother, was also listed as a victim of an attempted robbery. He was not shot.
Burris was pronounced dead at the scene, while Hinton is in stable condition. Both are at Carolinas Medical Center.
"We do know that both parties exchanged fire. One of the suspects was killed on the scene and the other was struck. He got away from the RV," Redfearn said. "We found him about 100 yards away. He was on the ground. A victim was also struck."
Earlier on Tuesday, a member that band had indicated that Scott Thomas was the band member who was shot. Bassist Barry Knox said via e-mail message, "We (want to) figure out the state of our drummer."
The alleged robbery occurred when members of Parmalee were inside an RV when two men forced their way into that vehicle. One of those men had a gun and demanded money.
