The U.S. Postal Service is trying to save some money, and that could spell bad news for Kinston.
The Postal Service wants to consolidate its operations at their Kinston and Fayetteville locations. The move would save more than $1.3 million, but 19 postal workers in Kinston would lose their jobs.
The change would not affect any normal postal services at the Kinston location. But city leaders say they can't afford to lose any more good paying jobs.
That's why tonight, a public hearing is being held to work out a compromise.
It begins at 6 o'clock at the Neuse Regional Library on Queen Street.
