Football Legend In East

Herschel Walker stepped aboard Camp Lejeune on Wednesday to thank Marines for their services and encourage them.

"I want to thank you guys for everything you do," said Walker in front of a captive audience. "Thank you guys for giving all your time. Giving all the holidays... giving all the things you give up."

The former Cowboys, Vikings, Eagles, and Giants football star took his time at Camp Johnson to encourage young Marines to work through any obstacle in the way of achieving their goals. He shared his story of growing up with a speech impediment and overcoming dissociative identity disorder. He wanted the few and the proud not to be too proud to ask for help if they needed it.

19 year old, recently enlisted Gabriel Messias got an autograph and a handshake from Walker.

"It's like being in the presence of... greatness because he's experienced a lot. I wish I could go through the same and be as successful as he is."

Walker shared some little known facts about himself at Wednesday's event. Before signing with the University of Gergia and beginning his football career, he considered entering the military. He made it to the Olympic bobsled team in 1992, and he has inked a deal with Strikeforce for a few MMA fights.

After snapping some pictures and signing jerseys, footballs, and even belts, Walker left the Marines with one resounding message.

"You've gotta get up every morning saying, 'I love me!'"
